11-11-11
It was a quiet moment, just doing general stuff at work. I turned around to David saying, “Did you see that?!”
See what?
“A mouse or rat just ran under the machine!”
Jhoana walked in right as he said this and said she saw it yesterday too.
The wolf in my belly stirred.
I thought, “I’m gonna catch it.”
We went on with our business as usual in the room next door for a while. It was around 20 minutes later when I stopped suddenly as I spotted the little brown mouse sitting in the middle of the hall on the dark blue and brown carpet. Jhoana was walking toward us but didn’t see it so I held up my hand to stop her then slowly took a step closer to the mouse. I bent down, watching its little whiskers twitch then quickly snatched it up in my cupped hands. I moved so fast Jhoana didn’t even know what happened so I told her I just caught the mouse! She couldn’t believe it!
I showed David my little treasure before beginning a procession outside to release the mouse. A lady and her young son followed me so he could see the mouse. He was fascinated and thought it was really neat. We walked for minutes to the closest area of nature at the end of the complex. I bent down and opened my hands to release the mouse and it sat in our shared warmth for a moment, unsure but unafraid. I wished it well and gave it a little nudge. It hopped into a small patch of flowery bushes, making only the slightest of scuffling noise. I could see its tail for just a few seconds… then all of us left.
I hope something magical happened to you on 11-11-11!
